ORWELL EN MONEGROS, SU PRESENCIA EN ALCUBIERRE<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Procedente de Barcelona un contingente de milicianos llega en tren a Barbastro, convertida en capital de la provincia en el lado republicano. Viajar\u00e1n hasta Si\u00e9tamo, donde hab\u00eda un puesto de mando del POUM y desde all\u00ed se dirigir\u00e1n por la carretera de Novales hacia Gra\u00f1en, enclave estrat\u00e9gico con su estaci\u00f3n de ferrocarril y una red de caminos que conduc\u00edan a diferentes y significativos destinos: el frente de Huesca, Sari\u00f1ena, Tardienta, Robres y Alcubierre. Este trayecto lo har\u00e1n en un cami\u00f3n hasta llegar al pueblo que se encuentra al pie de la sierra que le da nombre.<\/p>\n

Eric Arthur Blair (1903-1950), lleg\u00f3 a Alcubierre al anochecer, en los \u00faltimos d\u00edas del fr\u00edo mes de diciembre de 1936, encontrando un pueblo embarrado donde pas\u00f3 la noche en una cuadra. El pueblo se hab\u00eda preparado como cuartel de aprovisionamiento de las fuerzas que luchaban en la sierra. Las principales casas formaban parte de la colectividad, utiliz\u00e1ndose de diferentes maneras: Casa Ruata como hospital y cuartel; Casa Cajal ocupada como sede de mando del POUM; Casa Calvo como cooperativa; Casa Gabarre como cocina y Casa de Antonio Ram\u00f3n como lavander\u00eda, centro de acondicionamiento y remiendo de las ropas de los milicianos.<\/p>\n

Orwell fue destinado a la posici\u00f3n de Monte Pucero, en la Sierra de Alcubierre. Lleg\u00f3 con otros milicianos, desde Catalu\u00f1a, bajo la bandera del POUM. En apenas una semanas el contingente se dirigi\u00f3 a Monte Irazo, donde permanecer\u00e1n casi hasta final de febrero. El frente permanecer\u00e1 inamovible hasta finales de marzo de 1938, en que caer\u00e1n todas las posiciones republicanas.<\/p>\n

Hac\u00eda dos meses que el POUM hab\u00eda perdido Leci\u00f1ena, donde fue herido el poeta brit\u00e1nico John Cornford, biznieto de Darwin, y toda la l\u00ednea de la sierra se llenaba de trincheras y casamatas. Aqu\u00ed Orwell entrar\u00e1 en contacto con la guerra y como dec\u00eda recientemente el profesor Miquel Berga: \u201cTuvo que luchar en m\u00e1s de un frente: en primer lugar combati\u00f3 contra los fascistas, luego contra los estalinistas y, finalmente, se dio cuenta de que ten\u00eda que luchar sobre todo para intentar establecer la verdad de los hechos que vivi\u00f3 y que se representaban \u201ca lo Trump\u201d. Estas tres luchas se convirtieron en \u201cdecisivas para su futura obra literaria y su posici\u00f3n pol\u00edtica\u201d.<\/p>\n

En su obra \u201cHomenaje a Catalu\u00f1a\u201d, Orwell recre\u00f3 los paisajes y los ambientes de las trincheras monegrinas, donde Alcubierre, Robres y el frente de Huesca tienen un protagonismo importante.<\/p>\n

En 2005 el Gobierno de Arag\u00f3n y la Comarca de los Monegros pon\u00edan en marcha el programa \u201cAmarga Memoria\u201d, para conmemorar al a\u00f1o siguiente el 70 aniversario del comienzo de la Guerra Civil. El 28-12-2005 se inaugur\u00f3 la \u201cRuta Orwell\u201d como patrimonio b\u00e9lico recuperado en la Sierra de Alcubierre, siendo una de las primeras actuaciones la rehabilitaci\u00f3n de las trincheras de Monte Irazo. Tambien cre\u00f3 un Centro de Interpretaci\u00f3n y Documentaci\u00f3n de la Guerra Civil y se prepar\u00f3 un congreso y una exposici\u00f3n en 2006, en Robres en la que trabajaron Victor Pardo y \u00c1ngela Cenarro.<\/p>\n

Desde entonces muchas personalidades del mundo del periodismo, la historia, la literatura, el cine, junto a muchos visitantes, han llegado hasta la Ruta Orwell para conocer estas localizaciones o buscar inspiraci\u00f3n, conocer el lugar por el que pasaron sus padres o abuelos, y tambi\u00e9n para hacer una ruta combinada sobre la Guerra Civil y la naturaleza, practicando el senderismo. Entre ellos tenemos a: John Lee Anderson, periodista norteamericano del prestigioso \u201cThe New Yorker\u201d; la escritora Rosa Regas; el tambi\u00e9n escritor Ken Follet buscando inspiraci\u00f3n para su novela \u201cEl invierno del mundo\u201d; el equipo de periodistas de Pepa Fern\u00e1ndez de Radio Nacional de Espa\u00f1a; el etn\u00f3logo e historiador Manuel Benito; el equipo de Canal Historia para rodar unas entrevistas; el director de cine Agust\u00ed Villaronga que ha rodado escenas de su reciente pel\u00edcula \u201cIncierta Gloria\u201d y por supuesto Richard Blair y Quentin Kopp, junto a miembros de la Orwell Society, siguiendo la estela de George Orwell.<\/p>\n

Nunca se hab\u00eda hecho una intervenci\u00f3n de tipo art\u00edstico en este escenario, \u00e9sta ser\u00e1 la primera vez que un artista internacional, Massimo Burgio, colaborando de forma altruista con el Ayuntamiento de Alcubierre, llevar\u00e1 a cabo su proyecto en un lugar hist\u00f3rico en plena naturaleza. Es la forma de conmemorar la presencia de George Orwell, hace 80 a\u00f1os, en las trincheras monegrinas, que junto a otros actos que pronto anunciaremos, constituir\u00e1n el programa de esta efem\u00e9ride. Las fechas elegidas son el 20 de Mayo, como fecha en la que fue herido por una bala en el cuello, y un calendario pr\u00f3ximo. Un reto que nos hemos planteado, que esperamos les sorprenda y sea de su agrado.<\/p>\n
