Just a week after releasing the LoveHate double DJ session I had the opportunity to perform a double DJ set at the Vienna Burning Ball, the first gathering organized by the Austrian community of burners. Of course I went for a LoveHate Live session, playing half an hour of Love-inspired uplifting groovy tunes at 2-2.30AM, and then kicking in and closing the event with one hour of techno beats with the 4.30-5.30AM Hate-inspired slot. The Vienna Burners managed to sold out their first event packing the central venue Garage X with the Vienna crowd, but also gathering burners from everywhere around Europe – the venue was packed with truly beautiful people. I had a stupid accident the night before flying to Vienna but I decided to travel anyway, so I ended up going to the party and DJing on a wheelchair, while the next day I had to go to the hospital in Vienna. Anyway, I’m glad I went to Vienna – wheelchair and hospital on a side, it’s been a great experience. I loved it, and I hated it. Pretty much like this mix. =) Enjoy the Love. This is the first DJ set I played at Nowhere 2013, literally 15 minutes after my arrival. I got to my camp The Garden of Joy a few days before Nowhere officially started, and the soundsystem was already up, at least in its minimal asset. Right after the first round of hugs to my friends I hear “we need some music”, so I go straight to the DJ booth to open the Garden’s dancefloor with this set. Enjoy it! Here we go, the NeverFuckingStop Festival has finally arrived. My burners friends PiouPiou, Cocci and Matilduz have been planning to create a Burning Man-inspired festival for some times, and here it is. In a sunny spring day, at the Parc de la Villette in Paris, we took over My Boat, a club with a terrace and a view on the Parisienne channels, where artists, performers and burners gathered all day and night in a creative environment. And of course we danced. A lot. I played a starting set as Morphinauts, but I also had the pleasure and the honor to play the closing set of the night. I admit, this DJ set has been particularly furious, a true techno rave like I haven’t been playing for a while, after my exploration of the power-house beats from Suara – but I liked it, and everybody has been dancing like it’s Berling circa 1996. Back to Rumpus, the amazing burlesque, costumed, wild London party organized by some burners friends, which is now considered to be one of the best “indoor festivals” in the UK, compared to “Secret Garden in the city”. After the post-apocalyptic theme of Rumpus 9, this time the party theme was “Pantos vs. Pirates” – of course I enrolled with the pirates, and delivered a “pirate techno set”. I played for just a bit less than one hour as I started late (had tech problems while plugging my gear), but it was enough to take an awesome pirate crowd in a dancefloor bliss state. Welcome to my house. A dreamy, twisted, psychedelic, vintage, uplifting, joyful deep techno house. After all “that noise”, here are 3hrs+ of happy progressive house beats. Sure, I infiltrate everywhere techno, trance and even dubstep, but the overall mood is uplifting and playful, even when it goes into psychedelic sounds. And yes, I dropped a lot of vintage beats, including two or three original tracks from the end of the ’80s and early ’90s. It’s been a lot of fun to mix it all, I hope you’ll have fun dancing to it! I have been inspired to mix deep tech house sounds after following Laurent Garnier in his latest tour, and catching up with gigs and dancing myself to bliss 10 times in one year in Rome, Madrid, Liverpool, Munich, Barcelona and elsewhere, including at festivals like Sonar and the Monegros Desert Festival. I even traveled with friends to Paris for the special night at the Rex Club dedicated by Monsieur Garnier to his fans to celebrate his 25th career anniversary as a dj. It’s been a beautiful epic night, and an amazing party with Laurent Garnier who mixed nonstop for more than 8 hours. That’s my boy. This playlist includes many tracks Laurent Garnier has been playing at his recent gigs. Thanks Maestro, and happy anniversary again!
