It has been a while since my last studio mix, and I really wanted to record one today for many reasons: to celebrate the fall equinox, as a warm-up for the upcoming London Decompression 2014, and also because in the last month I bought some really awesome new tunes! The rave tracks in this mix are truly massive, I can’t wait to play them on a powerful sound system. One technical note: I really felt the urge to mix today, but I had no controller and not even an audio card – so no pre-fade listening, and very little control over the loops, mixing straight out of my laptop. Sure, I tagged all the tracks with cue points before starting mixing, but even though it’s been pretty hard, so there are a couple of minor fuckups in the mix: can you spot them? Also, I had an additional handicap: I played with one year only, as I’m suffering from severe otitis since yesterday! The result is awesome anyway, and I consider this to be one of my best mixes of this year – I hope you’ll enjoy it too! Other important note: I figured out that in the file on Mixcloud there are a couple of “glitches”, around 1h27m, and also towards the end of the mix – probably an upload probrem. More Amphora DJ sets from Burning Man 2013. This time I had the pleasure and the honor of “opening” for one of my favorite DJ posse on the Playa, Space Cowboys. At their “classic” Wednesday party at the Trash Fence Space Cowboy asked for the collaboration of all the top art cars on the playa – including Amphora of course. More than a dozen sound systems blasting the same music being broadcasted live from Unimog, the mighty sound system art car of the San Francisco DJ collective – and I provided the opening DJ set for the entire trip of Amphora till the party location, making sure to pump it up enough so to get the crowd ready for the all-night party mood. This is the first DJ set I played at Nowhere 2013, literally 15 minutes after my arrival. I got to my camp The Garden of Joy a few days before Nowhere officially started, and the soundsystem was already up, at least in its minimal asset. Right after the first round of hugs to my friends I hear “we need some music”, so I go straight to the DJ booth to open the Garden’s dancefloor with this set. Enjoy it! My third time at Rumpus in the last year, and the infamous London party is growing bigger and better. At its third anniversary, Rumpus “ramped up” to a larger venue, leaving behind the historic venue in North London in favor of the much larger, 12-rooms multistage Coronet Theatre on the South bank of the Thames. It’s been a very good Rumpus, the way parties should be! For the first time at Rumpus I didn’t close the dj session, but I was at the end of the night anyway, with a DJ set scheduled between 3AM and 4Am. I had a great feedback from the session, with the room packed and everybody down to dance, sweet! I played as part of the line-up of the Room n. 12, home to the cool DJ collective Wonderland. i had a great fun in the Wonderland room, thank you to everybody: DJs. artists and public!
