This summer I didn’t participate to Burning Man, nor to Nowhere or any of the other regional gathering that, after two years of covid, started popping up again. My last burn has been three years ago, back in the summer of 2019; with the 2020 and 2021 events being canceled for covid, I was really looking forward to spend the best of my summer to Nowhere in the Spanish Monegros desert. I even had the ticket, although overpriced. But I didn’t go. After exactly 20 years of deep commitment to Burning Man, I finally figured out that, while Burning Man and all related gathering and events could be fun, and yet sometimes inspiring, the entire “thing” has lost the status of “transformational platform” that once, back in my days and mostly in Larry Harvey’s days, used to be. So I lost all interest and I didn’t go. Couldn’t resell my ticket, who cares? So this was a burn off for me, even if I was ready for it – including with a bunch of new tracks that I really wanted to play live, but I’m dropping into this mix. This is dedicated to all burners. I just turned 50 years “young”, so I decided to celebrate by mixing 50 tunes! Well, at the beginning I mixed 66 songs (as for Class of ’66), but the mix was too long, over the 6h30m, and impossible to share it on MixCloud – so I had to “cut it down” to 50 tunes. This is a chillout mix you can dance to, and a dance mix you can chillout to – wherever you spin it, you’ll find yourself venturing often in psychedelic territories, and moving from techno to progressive electronica, to house, dubstep and more unexpected takes. It’s a 5hrs+ rollercoaster trip – actually… are you ready for it?
