This summer I didn’t participate to Burning Man, nor to Nowhere or any of the other regional gathering that, after two years of covid, started popping up again. My last burn has been three years ago, back in the summer of 2019; with the 2020 and 2021 events being canceled for covid, I was really looking forward to spend the best of my summer to Nowhere in the Spanish Monegros desert. I even had the ticket, although overpriced. But I didn’t go. After exactly 20 years of deep commitment to Burning Man, I finally figured out that, while Burning Man and all related gathering and events could be fun, and yet sometimes inspiring, the entire “thing” has lost the status of “transformational platform” that once, back in my days and mostly in Larry Harvey’s days, used to be. So I lost all interest and I didn’t go. Couldn’t resell my ticket, who cares? So this was a burn off for me, even if I was ready for it – including with a bunch of new tracks that I really wanted to play live, but I’m dropping into this mix. This is dedicated to all burners. Burn on, or burn off – whatever suit you best. Just don’t forget to dance. A new installment in the “In-flight Entertainment” series – my favorite series of studio mixes, where the studio is a mobile studio, while I’m traveling: boats, trains, and mostly flights. This mix is dedicated to one of my favorite home towns, San Francisco, and has been recorded on a direct flight from San Francisco to Paris. Euroburners’ decompression parties are getting better and better. I was expecting the first Belgian Decompression to be a great party, since its organizers were all cool people and nice burners, but I really was surprised to find out that it was a truly jewel of a gathering, a really awesome party with burners friends and family from all over Europe. I played a warm-up DJset at the beginning of the evening, then got I busy with an art installation and enjoyed the rest of the night with friends. I closed the event playing a pretty acid chill down dj set in the downstairs room, where everybody was gathering since it was also the bar area, and I truly enjoyed laying the chilled beats even more than the initial powered up set. Here we go, the NeverFuckingStop Festival has finally arrived. My burners friends PiouPiou, Cocci and Matilduz have been planning to create a Burning Man-inspired festival for some times, and here it is. In a sunny spring day, at the Parc de la Villette in Paris, we took over My Boat, a club with a terrace and a view on the Parisienne channels, where artists, performers and burners gathered all day and night in a creative environment. And of course we danced. A lot. I played a starting set as Morphinauts, but I also had the pleasure and the honor to play the closing set of the night. I admit, this DJ set has been particularly furious, a true techno rave like I haven’t been playing for a while, after my exploration of the power-house beats from Suara – but I liked it, and everybody has been dancing like it’s Berling circa 1996.
