Last week I went for a long drive, I plugged my phone in random shuffle mode and I drove for hours. For some reasons, my library played in less than 1 hour 3 different versions of the iconic Detroit techno anthem “The Jaguar“, which reminded me that I have way more versions of the track (actually 26!). As I reached destination (a cabin up in the mountains) I unpacked my laptop, launched Traktor and went for a full 1hr “Jaguar Megamix” recording.
This is my long due tribute to the Detroit techno scene, and to The Jaguar, a tune that hooked me up since its release back in 1999. Big kudos to its creators DJ Rolando and Underground Resistance, and to all the artists that gifted us with remixes and alternate versions of the killer tune over time.
I ended up with a Jaguar Megamix trilogy tribute: “A Side” was my first mix, with “B Side” I included also several original remixes from Detroit techno pioneers, while “C Side” packs some of the most unusual and eclectic versions of the iconic track. Because you know… there’s more than a way to skin a jaguar! Jaguar forever! <3
