Smokey Beats for a Stoners’ Afternoon – Live in Rome at Canapa Mundi
This is my 2hrs live set for the Rome-based hemp trade show and cannabis culture hub Canapa Mundi. The stage was supposed to be mainly dub, reggae and hip-hop but I couldn’t help and I had to drop a few techno beats, while surfing in and out of dub, reggae, hip-hop, bass music and the occasional drum’n’bass. The result is a pretty eclectic mix that should make you dance anyway, or at least nod while keeping rolling spliffs. I pitched for a 4-6PM DJ slot, as I wanted to play one of my infamous 420 Sessions, but unfortunately all the 4PM slots of the weekend were already taken. So this is not a proper 420 Session, but the subtitle for this set is “Smokey beats for a stoners’ afternoon”. 6-8PM might not be 4.20, but you know… it’s always 4.20 somewhere… SMOKEY BEATS FOR A STONERS’ AFTERNOON DJSET PLAYLIST :: Bad Ass Bass – Heavyweight Crew :: Get High (VIP Mix) – Kill Them With Colour :: Raingurl – Yaeji :: Hard Drive – Shenseea, Konshens & Rvssian :: 420 in Kingston – E-Lit :: Exodus (Kid Culture 2012 Rework) – Bob Marley :: Plain Jane (Remix) – A$AP Ferg feat. Burningmax presents AGNIXAM :: Spiritual Dance
This is a demo I got ready to pitch Bhakti Festival 2018, a spirituality festival, with a session of “Spiritual Dance”, a new experiment based on techno rhythms fused with mantras and songs of all spiritual backgrounds: Hindu and native American chants meet Australian aboriginal spirituality and sacred songs of African tribes, Gregorian chants and Buddhist mantras, Tibetan monks and Islamic muezzins, binaural frequencies, icaros of Amazonian ayahuasca shamans and other sounds of spiritual nature. For the spiritual dance project I adopted a “proto-spiritual” pseudonym I already used for other recent holistic performances: Agnixam. The spirit of Burning Max becomes Agni, divinity of fire, while “xam” is nothing but the mirror reflection of “max” – an alternate version of Burningmax, more profound and intimate. Agnixam is the spiritual expression of Burningmax, but with the same “bhakti” for techno music. Burningmax Presents – Mushroom Beats
Dazed. Confused. Spaced out and dilated. Acid and psychedelic, and still pumping on the dancefloor. Welcome to my Mushroom Beats.

Burningmax :: Smells Like Boom Spirit
Playing trance and psy-trance is definitely fun. I still prefer progressive techno, but every time I play trance I definitely feel its power on decks. And on the dancefloor. I have been going to Boom Festival, home to psychedelic and psy-trance culture, for the last three editions. Being the festival a biannual event, I’ve been a “boomer” for the last 6 years, and I feel that it’s about time for a little homage to the Boom community, of both boomers and musicians. We are One. Here are some of my favorite “classic” Boom artists: Zen Mechanics, Loud, Ace Ventura, E-Clip, Avalon, and many others – plus some good recent Goa trance and a couple of progressive trance tunes, all mixed up with some massive pounding hypnotic techno – enough to create a synergy with trance and to make it “smell like Boom spirit”. A little “numerology trick” here, and another homage to last year’s Boom Festival edition. Boom 2016 was all about the numerology of number 3. 33,333 participants tickets, 3,333 admissions to Utopia the after-Boom and, unfortunately, 3 casualties among the participants of the festival. This is why you’ll find this trance mix to be “cut” at exactly 3 hours, 33 minutes, 33 seconds and 333 milliseconds – which means the total play time is 3:33:33:333. =) BURNINGMAX :: FEELS LIKE BOOM SPIRIT DJSET PLAYLIST :: Come with Us (Lish Remix) – Ace Ventura + Zen Mechanics :: Underbeat (Future Frequency Remix) – Astrix :: Sacred Rituals – Mindbenderz :: Idanha – Kundalini :: Mother (Fur Coat Remix) – Denis Horvat :: Spectrum (Original Mix) – Akoustik ::...
Burningmax Live – Fuck Ecstatic Dance This Is Spiritual
I’ve never really understood the trend of Ecstatic Dance. Don’t get me wrong, I have a very active “holistic life” so I know it all about it, but as a DJ and most of all as a raver, I simply cannot understand (nor accept) those sudden swings from a good tune to a crappy one, to an uplifting groove to a sudden cheesy pop song. Yes, sure… the 5 rythms, the flow… I know – but that’s gotta be a different way… So at the recent Barcelona Burning Bash Weekend BBB 2017, during one of my scheduled DJ sets I took the holistic dance to another level – the spiritual one. And I made sure that one was going to good for the dancefloor, too – not just for the soul. Techno, trance, and good dance electronica are this time at service of prayers. The entire set, that opens and closes with a Gayatri Mantra, is actually made by tracks that are in fact prayers. And when they are not, good dance music is the base for a wide series of spiritual loops that I throw in the mix: buddhist mantras, tibetan monks, gregorian chants, african spiritual chants, native american prayers, sufi sounds, Osho meditation tunes and more – including “icaros”, sacred amazonian chants for ayahuasca ceremonies. I hope you enjoy it. Shanti Om, motherfuckers. Burningmax Live 15 :: Live At MART
This is the DJ set I played at MART (Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Rovereto e Trento) last night. The Italian contemporary art museum invited me to play a live set for “Hungry Like The Woolf“, a dance party inspired to Virginia Woolf and the Modernism, which I twisted into a “Angry Like The Woolf” live set. I kicked in with a stripper song, a remixed Ella Fitzgerald and some pimped up electroswing, but pretty soon I moved into the techno rave sounds I feel more comfortable with, and closed the live set by venturing into dubstep and psychedelic electronica, just to throw in a pinch of “dancefloor modernism“. And I had plenty of fun! =) Enjoy, download, and have fun you too! BURNINGMAX LIVE AT MART :: ANGRY LIKE THE WOOLF Are you wondering why I used a cameo for the cover art of the live DJ set? In-Flight Entertainment 02 :: Nairobi
Technically, this one has not been mixed while flying, but while hanging out in a Maasai Mara Lodge in Kenya, right before flying back to Italy. I mixed it at a very low volume and no pre-fade listening (hence the couple of mix fuckups), so I could have been able to enjoy it in my headphones for the first time only when I was on the flight back home, a few hours later. Does it counts as in-flight entertainment? =) Also, it’s kind of different from the music I usually play – consider this something like a chillout session for a Maasai warrior!
