Wow. I haven’t been playing a live DJ set for more than three years, and I was really missing it all, so I pushed a bit on my comeback set with an eclectic yet consistent flow of massive tunes. Welcome to a dancefloor journey that, from its start – no spoiler – will immediately catapult you in a world of massive beats: breakbeat, UK bass, deep house, techno, trance, OMG here comes the bass again…. This is my very latest live DJ set before the global pandemic exploded, so it will stick as one of my favorite latest memories before the lockdown. Played live at Canapa Mundi 2020, the cannabis trade show of Rome, where I kicked off the year before the 50 Shades of Green art installation, so this set is a tribute to the art project. This is also a classic 420 session – mostly rap and hip-hop, I mixed in also a few more dub, reggae and trap tunes. Smokey Beats for a Stoners’ Afternoon – Live in Rome at Canapa Mundi
This is my 2hrs live set for the Rome-based hemp trade show and cannabis culture hub Canapa Mundi. The stage was supposed to be mainly dub, reggae and hip-hop but I couldn’t help and I had to drop a few techno beats, while surfing in and out of dub, reggae, hip-hop, bass music and the occasional drum’n’bass. The result is a pretty eclectic mix that should make you dance anyway, or at least nod while keeping rolling spliffs. I pitched for a 4-6PM DJ slot, as I wanted to play one of my infamous 420 Sessions, but unfortunately all the 4PM slots of the weekend were already taken. I just spent a few days totally immersed in cannabis culture at the Canapa in Mostra trade show in Naples, so I couldn’t resist the temptation to put my headphones on and record another of my infamous 420 Sessions, which I dedicate this time to the “city by the volcano” and its amazing alternative scene. I wanted to play a trap set on a Saturday night at Ubertown, one of the best soundsystems and dancefloors at Nowhere, but unfortunately the bad weather of the Friday night put Ubertown’s soundsystem down, as well as part of the camp.
