Post Pandemic Music Therapy
Six months ago, back in December 2020, I tried to develop a project aimed at helping out our burners community from a specific standpoint, the mental health unbalance that has impacted pretty much all of us as an outcome of almost one year and a half of pandemic crisis and social isolation from covid19 pandemic lockdowns. Depression, anxiety, loneliness, but also fear, sometimes panic or rage, and loss and grief. This is just the tip of the iceberg of a humanity being broken by the terrible experience we all collectively shared. I wanted to help, at least within the (not so) small circle of our community, by offering something that would have brought some sort of emotional support to my brothers and sisters in dust. What I envisioned wasn’t certainly the next Zoom event with DJs and virtual kinky workshops. We already did many of those, including the DomusBurn virtual event we organized exactly one year ago. But that was one year ago, when we were still hoping the virus would have “gone away” by summer. Now we are way deeply broken, and we don’t need that shit anymore – our community needs something more meaningful than another Zoom DJ set. I thought to re-purpose the DomusBurn website into a community-focused platform designed to offer emotional support through peer-to-peer group counseling. Opioid Chilldance
Earlier this week I ended up at the hospital’s emergency room for an acute pain crisis. Nothing serious, but I’ve been severely sedated, and the doctor prescribed me a couple of weeks of absolute rest, and plenty of pills, including very powerful opioids for the pain. So this morning I followed the doctor’s orders and I popped my pills, plugged into Traktor, put the headphones on, and I immersed myself for 3 hours into a psychedelic chill state that I would love to share. Enjoy it, with or without the chemical support! Note: opioid prescriptions are bad and very addictive. Try to keep them at large if you can, and always ask your doctor for alternative pain relief methods, whenever possible. If you really must, then do not abuse. You can definitely abuse dancing, it’s really good for you. Burningmax presents AGNIXAM :: Spiritual Dance
This is a demo I got ready to pitch Bhakti Festival 2018, a spirituality festival, with a session of “Spiritual Dance”, a new experiment based on techno rhythms fused with mantras and songs of all spiritual backgrounds: Hindu and native American chants meet Australian aboriginal spirituality and sacred songs of African tribes, Gregorian chants and Buddhist mantras, Tibetan monks and Islamic muezzins, binaural frequencies, icaros of Amazonian ayahuasca shamans and other sounds of spiritual nature. For the spiritual dance project I adopted a “proto-spiritual” pseudonym I already used for other recent holistic performances: Agnixam. The spirit of Burning Max becomes Agni, divinity of fire, while “xam” is nothing but the mirror reflection of “max” – an alternate version of Burningmax, more profound and intimate. Agnixam is the spiritual expression of Burningmax, but with the same “bhakti” for techno music. Monegros Chilled Beats
A new tribute to The Monegros, the beautiful desert area in Spain that I have just left, after being a resident for a couple of years. The 45 tunes in this mix are the tracks I have been mostly listening to during my last Monegros summer – chilled, progressive beats that are very, very dance-oriented.
