I wanted to play a trap set on a Saturday night at Ubertown, one of the best soundsystems and dancefloors at Nowhere, but unfortunately the bad weather of the Friday night put Ubertown’s soundsystem down, as well as part of the camp. When I got a spot for a Saturday night DJ set at Middle of Nowhere, I decided to kick in with the good old trap set. And it worked pretty well!. Enjoy it! This is the first DJ set I played at Nowhere 2013, literally 15 minutes after my arrival. I got to my camp The Garden of Joy a few days before Nowhere officially started, and the soundsystem was already up, at least in its minimal asset. Right after the first round of hugs to my friends I hear “we need some music”, so I go straight to the DJ booth to open the Garden’s dancefloor with this set. Enjoy it! Everybody knows that I’m not a fan of dubstep, but I’m not so radical. Every now and then I like to drop the dubstep bass (or noise) also during a techno set. And it’s always fun. And when the occasional dubstep comes with electronic 808 beats and hip-hop roots and rhymes, then I’m hooked – or shall I say trapped? Welcome to Trap Music! I have been dropping the occasional trap music tune every now and then since the beginning of the year, mostly the dubby stuff by UZ and of course the Harlem Shake! Technically, this one has not been mixed while flying, but while hanging out in a Maasai Mara Lodge in Kenya, right before flying back to Italy. I mixed it at a very low volume and no pre-fade listening (hence the couple of mix fuckups), so I could have been able to enjoy it in my headphones for the first time only when I was on the flight back home, a few hours later. Does it counts as in-flight entertainment? =) Also, it’s kind of different from the music I usually play – consider this something like a chillout session for a Maasai warrior!
