Introducing my new Burningmax Time Machine project. Starting today I will publish every month a mix that goes back in time. Not so back anyway, I’ll keep it contained to this century. Let’s start with the first instalment in the Burningmax Time Machine series, a mix entirely dedicated to the tunes I loved to play in my DJ sets, and that have been released in 2009, the year that I actually started DJing. Each mix of the Time Machine series is meant to be pretty eclectic, as I create a sound journey that goes through techno, house, drum’n’bass, progressive electronica, psychedelic beats, chill dance, and even ambient, if needed. I just turned 50 years “young”, so I decided to celebrate by mixing 50 tunes! Well, at the beginning I mixed 66 songs (as for Class of ’66), but the mix was too long, over the 6h30m, and impossible to share it on MixCloud – so I had to “cut it down” to 50 tunes. This is a chillout mix you can dance to, and a dance mix you can chillout to – wherever you spin it, you’ll find yourself venturing often in psychedelic territories, and moving from techno to progressive electronica, to house, dubstep and more unexpected takes. It’s a 5hrs+ rollercoaster trip – actually… are you ready for it? The recording time of this mix is exactly cut at 5.05.05.050 – 5 hours 05 minutes 05 seconds and 050 milliseconds, just to keep up with the numerology gimmicks!!! =) Lay back or dance, and enjoy it both ways! I haven’t played much live this year, but I’ve been stacking up tons of massive tunes. Last month I figured out that I’ve been listening to plenty of great music that I’ve never shared with anybody else, and what’s worst is that I didn’t even tried to pass it on decks. So I said “Fuck it, let’s empty the summer crates on Traktor and see what happens”. What happened was that the selection alone took almost an entire month… and I ended up with three different mix, even if more than 90% of the tunes didn’t made the selection. Bummer. Anyway, there’s enough music to keep everybody happy: 4 hours of relaxing electronica, 2 hours of uplifting dance music, and further 90 minutes of massive beats – music for all tastes! Since the whole idea started with a “Fuck it” (without the hypocrisy of the asterisks), the decision about the name of this multiple studio DJ set was immediate: introducing Burningmax’s F Trilogy! Take it personally or not, I hope you enjoy it. The recent Barcelona Burning Weekend was another amazing Euroburners’ gathering. A magic place with a Gaudi-esque castle in the woods near Alcover in Catalunya, with burners friends and family from all over Europe, and the right awesome attitude from all participants. As usual, I have been pretty busy on several fronts – from leading a shift at the Gate to helping out for tear down and more, including building a Temple! Yes, the Temple of the Light at the End of the Tunnel, here are a few pictures of it on Facebook! On the DJing side, I played two techno DJ sets on Friday night and on Saturday night. I forgot to record the Friday night set, and the one on Saturday, while it was pretty good (everybody was dancing), was mostly killer tunes I already published here with some of my recents DJ sets. So I’m now sharing the warm up downtempo DJ set I played in the woods on Friday afternoon, right after the set up of the Temple. I hope you like it! Euroburners’ decompression parties are getting better and better. I was expecting the first Belgian Decompression to be a great party, since its organizers were all cool people and nice burners, but I really was surprised to find out that it was a truly jewel of a gathering, a really awesome party with burners friends and family from all over Europe. I played a warm-up DJset at the beginning of the evening, then got I busy with an art installation and enjoyed the rest of the night with friends. I closed the event playing a pretty acid chill down dj set in the downstairs room, where everybody was gathering since it was also the bar area, and I truly enjoyed laying the chilled beats even more than the initial powered up set. And here we go, the set is now finally online, and all yours to enjoy, download and dance!
