Nowhere 2019 Sets: Live at KosmoZoo

Here is the first of the DJ sets I played this year at Nowhere 2009. Not the first I played this year in the Monegros desert, but probably the one where I had more fun playing. Enjoy the very funky and uplifting 2hrs sunset session (8-10PM) I played at the new amazing Belgian barrio KosmoZoo. I kicked the DJ set off with a very funky deep house tune I really love, then jumped immediately into Chicago house, mostly exploring the production of UK-based house label Soul Revolution, that I have recently discovered on BandCamp. At around half set I moved to UK garage and bass music, I dropped some afro-jamaican-brazilian percussions, and I finally closed the set with a bit of progressive deep house tunes. The final part of the set has been epic, a desert classic. A night dust storm was approaching, while the sunset painted the sky in reds and blacks, and the first drops of rain started coming down. Meanwhile, the KosmoZoo crew was protecting speakers and electronics from rain and securing tarps from the wind, I was playing a remixed version of Nathan Fake’s “The Sky was Pink”, and everybody kept dancing until the end of the set. Earlier this week I ended up at the hospital’s emergency room for an acute pain crisis. Nothing serious, but I’ve been severely sedated, and the doctor prescribed me a couple of weeks of absolute rest, and plenty of pills, including very powerful opioids for the pain. So this morning I followed the doctor’s orders and I popped my pills, plugged into Traktor, put the headphones on, and I immersed myself for 3 hours into a psychedelic chill state that I would love to share. Enjoy it, with or without the chemical support! Note: opioid prescriptions are bad and very addictive. Try to keep them at large if you can, and always ask your doctor for alternative pain relief methods, whenever possible. If you really must, then do not abuse. You can definitely abuse dancing, it’s really good for you. A new tribute to The Monegros, the beautiful desert area in Spain that I have just left, after being a resident for a couple of years. The 45 tunes in this mix are the tracks I have been mostly listening to during my last Monegros summer – chilled, progressive beats that are very, very dance-oriented. This mix includes my first mash-up of the ’90s Ibiza chillout classic “3.2” by Humate (Bedrock Ambient Remix), which has been the inspiration for my recent production of a rework of the Balearic classic, Three Point Three (Infinite Burningmax Rework).
