Dustless Summer :: ChillDance Part One

Dustless Summer :: ChillDance Part One

I recorded this on July 10, 2020, a Friday I would have normally spent at the Nowhere festival, and very much playing live to dancefloors packed with dusty hippies. I would have also given my sets a psychedelic spin, since it was Friday. Acid Friday. But the Nowhere festival was canceled, as all other real life burners events worldwide, in this pandemic, dustless summer. It would have been my 14th Nowhere in 15 years, with just one leap year in 2018. I was a bit sad, so I started with pretty chilled, almost cinematic tunes on my decks and in my headphones, embarking soon in a 6 hours set I played just for myself and my dog, in my own social isolation state. This is the first part of the recording, the first 3 hours of chillout dance. Pretty much all 2020 tunes, with just a couple of exceptions, also for the inclusion of an amazing Portishead remix from my good friend Birdy, which I think he produced last year, not sure about that. And, to keep celebrate burners, I have also included the latest single by true Nowherians Frederika and Mike Krier, just released last July. Well, here we go. I hope you enjoy this part one, and stay tuned for part two coming up soon. Nowhere 2019 Sets: Live at KosmoZoo

Nowhere 2019 Sets: Live at KosmoZoo

Here is the first of the DJ sets I played this year at Nowhere 2009. Not the first I played this year in the Monegros desert, but probably the one where I had more fun playing. Enjoy the very funky and uplifting 2hrs sunset session (8-10PM) I played at the new amazing Belgian barrio KosmoZoo. I kicked the DJ set off with a very funky deep house tune I really love, then jumped immediately into Chicago house, mostly exploring the production of UK-based house label Soul Revolution, that I have recently discovered on BandCamp. At around half set I moved to UK garage and bass music, I dropped some afro-jamaican-brazilian percussions, and I finally closed the set with a bit of progressive deep house tunes. The final part of the set has been epic, a desert classic. A night dust storm was approaching, while the sunset painted the sky in reds and blacks, and the first drops of rain started coming down. Meanwhile, the KosmoZoo crew was protecting speakers and electronics from rain and securing tarps from the wind, I was playing a remixed version of Nathan Fake’s “The Sky was Pink”, and everybody kept dancing until the end of the set. Loved it. Stay tuned, as I will be releasing all other Nowhere 2019 DJ sets soon! ROOM BEATS – Live at the Together Mansion in Rome

ROOM BEATS – Live at the Together Mansion in Rome

Welcome to the Together Mansion, an amazing co-creators space in Trastevere, the heart of Rome. And welcome to Room Beats, the “packed small living room” version of the classic Boiler Room – the DJ at the center of the room, surrounded by an happy dancing crowd. A couple of weeks ago I have been invited to play at the closing event of the season, also closing the line-up after the sets of RoyTson and Estien – check them out, they are good! My Room Beats set has been defined by participants’ mood. I was not sure about the best sound to bring to a living room party – I thought people wanted cool, groovy beats, while I was ready to hit hard and rave – so we let participants decide by choosing a pill (obvious choice was blue or red) and putting it in a jar. Problem was that the responses were pretty much balanced between groove and rave, so I adapted and ended up kicking off with some groove techno tunes, to slowly move on to more acid, ravey sounds. Everybody loved it, and I had a great time. Can’t wait to play the Room Beats again! Burningmix 19 :: Funky Disco Catz (Suara 3 of 3)

Burningmix 19 :: Funky Disco Catz (Suara 3 of 3)

Third mixdeck in the trilogy series I dedicated to the powerful sound of the Barcelona-based independent label Suara Music, and here we go with another cat cover. After the Groovy Wild Catz and the Acid Catz mixdeck, it’s now time to explore the nu-disco and funky soul of Suara, with a selection that I’m sure will make you dance like it’s 1979 – or 1999 – or better said 2013, since the Suara sound it’s always infused with a very contemporary massive bass and techno beat, even when they go disco and funky! With this mixdeck I officially close my trilogy tribute to Suara Music, meaning that starting from the next mix there will be a larger variety of labels included in my mixdecks. But of course I’m now totally hooked with Suara, so you will hear more and more of their sounds, both in my studio mixes and in my live gigs. Specially in the live DJing, because the Suara sound is truly powerful, and designed to make everybody never fucking stop dancing! Are you ready to dance? 1, 2, 3, Meuw!
