Euroburners’ decompression parties are getting better and better. I was expecting the first Belgian Decompression to be a great party, since its organizers were all cool people and nice burners, but I really was surprised to find out that it was a truly jewel of a gathering, a really awesome party with burners friends and family from all over Europe. I played a warm-up DJset at the beginning of the evening, then got I busy with an art installation and enjoyed the rest of the night with friends. I closed the event playing a pretty acid chill down dj set in the downstairs room, where everybody was gathering since it was also the bar area, and I truly enjoyed laying the chilled beats even more than the initial powered up set. This is the DJ set I prepared for Fatturato, the afterparty of Venduto at CarnemVale 2013 in Milan – but I didn’t had the chance to play it. The afterparty, organized at the Q21 Club in Milan, was scheduled 6AM-noon, and I was supposed to play my set from 10 to 12. Everything went pretty well from 6 to 9 – the club was nice and so the music, people dancing with a very happy afterparty mood – but at 9AM the organizers told me the club owners wanted to close earlier (at 10AM) so they asked me to rush at the decks and play my set. By the time I got everything set up it was 9.15-9.20 and, after only 10 minutes of djset, while everybody was happy on the dancefloor, the bouncers came up and, in a very rude way, they shut everything off. They said the reason was that the bar was not cashing in, so they decided to send everybody home. Just like this. Whatever – I moved on to my friends’ house and I played my set anyway and we all had fun. This is what you missed, Q21! It took me a month to finally be able to publish the recording on my closing DJ set at London Decompression 2012. The reason is that my laptop died just a couple of days after the set, and my poor baby has been in the hospital (Apple assistance) until yesterday! A month and 420 Euro later (hey! 420 again!) I finally got it back. And here we are! The title Casualties on the Dancefloor came up while working on the London Decom playlist. “Really? Am I really going for remixed hardcore punk? Jeeee… I’m gonna make some casualties, this is pretty violent…“, but I decided to go for it anyway! I guess this has been the darkest and most violent sound I played live since I dj – I mean, the hard techno or overnoisy track every now and then or the super acid sets are part of the classic trademark sound of Burningmax live, but this is the first time I do a 1 hour 30 minutes set that can make your ears bleed. And I liked it, and people on the dancefloor too. I underestimated the level of aural resistance of the Decom crowd – they actually loved it and neverfuckingstop danced until the end at 6AM, leaving no casualties on the dancefloor at all! Sweet! Due to a number of things that happened last summer, including switching to a new laptop and moving to Barcelona, I thought I lost the recording of the live djset I played at the Manrusionica festival last June in Manresa (Barcelona). I’m very happy that I just found the recording of the live set in a back-up disk, so let me post it here before I lose it again! =) Manrusionica launched in 2011 as a collaborative 2.0 festival of electronic music and visual arts. This year at its second edition it replicated last year’s success by filling up with acts and live gigs the entire city of Manresa for 24 hrs, covering a large number of indoor and outdoor areas of the city with a full festival of electronic culture. Did I mention that Manrusionics is a no profit event and that access to all gigs, acts and performance areas is free for the public? Well done Manrusionica! Since I’ve been invited to play during the day (4-5PM) at one of outdoor stages, I decided to play one of my 420 Sessions, I hope you’ll enjoy it! Here is a stoner-friendly djset I did as a warm-up for the upcoming performance at the Manrusionica Festival next week – check out the dedicated page they put up on the Manrusionica blog to introduce me.
