The name is not only due to the fact that I’m releasing this in September (duh), but mostly because all the tracks I mix are fresh from being released this month (September 2021), the majority of them just last weekend, while the “oldest” track is from “way back” on September 2. After all the chill, house and eclectic stuff I’ve released over the last year, mostly for fun and to kick covid depression out of the door, with this studio mix I’m finally back to the true Burningmax sound. At the end of September 2013 I flew directly from Burning Man and the DPW tear down straight into my favorite European burners community, at the amazing French Burning Weekend. The three-days gathering, actually held in Belgium, in the woods outside Brussels – same place where a few years ago I participated to the Art in Action weekend – is a brainchild of the mighty French Burners community. A new installment in the “In-flight Entertainment” series – my favorite series of studio mixes, where the studio is a mobile studio, while I’m traveling: boats, trains, and mostly flights. This is the first DJ set I played at Nowhere 2013, literally 15 minutes after my arrival. I got to my camp The Garden of Joy a few days before Nowhere officially started, and the soundsystem was already up, at least in its minimal asset. Right after the first round of hugs to my friends I hear “we need some music”, so I go straight to the DJ booth to open the Garden’s dancefloor with this set. Enjoy it! This is the DJ set I played at MART (Museo di Arte Contemporanea di Rovereto e Trento) last night. The Italian contemporary art museum invited me to play a live set for “Hungry Like The Woolf“, a dance party inspired to Virginia Woolf and the Modernism, which I twisted into a “Angry Like The Woolf” live set. I kicked in with a stripper song, a remixed Ella Fitzgerald and some pimped up electroswing, but pretty soon I moved into the techno rave sounds I feel more comfortable with, and closed the live set by venturing into dubstep and psychedelic electronica, just to throw in a pinch of “dancefloor modernism“.
